Patent Monitoring

Patent Monitoring is an essential service to innovative companies.  Essentially patent monitoring is a weekly publication of patent news in a specied area of interest.  We have been providing leading companies with patent news in their areas of interest since the 1930's.  We have been providing weekly patent updates to companies under the name of Discovery Dispatch since 1995.  Our oldest clients know how important patent monitoring is and they take advantage of being in the knowledge loop by staying aware of innovations in their industry.

Patents introduce new solutions to problems and innovation provides lower costs and improved products over time.  The patent watch is a long term strategy for forward thinking companies.

A company calls us and tells us what they are interested in monitoring.  Sometimes they monitor individual inventors, other times it is competing companies.  Most of our clients are interested in general subject areas pertinent to their businesses.  Each week over ten thousand new patents and patent applications are issued.  We review these newly published inventions and select those that are pertinent to our clients.  At the end of the week we assemble these collections and report our findings to our clients.  In this manner our clients are able to detect trends in their industry, uncover new innovations that may improve their products, and be aware of what their competitors are working on.

Patent monitoring may be used to prevent being side swiped by changes in an industry.  I think that Research in Motion with their Blackberry and Nokia with their line of cell phones could have benefitted from knowing what Apple was up to several years ago.  Those that are not aware of what is occurring in their industry have little chance of making good strategic decisions.
